When the iPhone 4 originally launched on June 24th it brought with it only the black version. However, Apple did tell us at the time of the device’s launch that the white iPhone 4 would not be seen until sometime later. Unfortunately for those anxiously awaiting the device, Apple pushed the device’s release date back not once, but twice not slated for later this year.

You may be wondering why is Apple delaying the launch of this phone if the black version is (somewhat) happily finding its way into consumers hands around the nation. Well, other than a few rumors we don’t have much to go by but today we bring you another report as to why the white iPhone 4 has been delayed that seems to have some strong backing behind it.

According o the latest set of rumors the reason the white iPhone 4 is being delayed is due to light leakage happening from the LCD screen through the from panel.

What ever the problem may be lets hope Apple sorts it out soon and gets the device out the door before consumers move on to the next big thing.

Inspiration from these scenes has now been put in an iPhone for Star Wars: Trench Run. Not only can you get into Luke Skywalker’s piloting outfit and “use the force”, but you can even play on the Empire’s side and get rid of those pesky X-wings.

It is available now for $5 at the iTunes app Store, you should know that it has special graphics features for the iPhone 3GS.

It has a green light of a charge indicator on it, and when it plugs in, it begins to charge the iPod or iPhone right away. It is good for 24 hours worth of music, 6 hours of video, 2 hours of talk time, and 1 and a half hours worth of web access. First, there was only a teaser page. Then came an anti-Apple ad which amused the public while industry watchers dissected teasers to uncover device specs. Finally, a premature leak on Motorola’s site spoiled Verizon’s pre-launch hype build-up.

The next day Droid landed on the Boy Genius Report’s desk for the whole world wide web to see. Although the publication played with a pre-production unit that runs beta software, early impressions suggest that Droid is the best Android device yet and the closest thing to an iPhone killer, although it won’t eat the iPhone’s lunch:

The Droid isn’t an iPhone competitor because nothing at this point in time is an iPhone competitor besides the new iPhone. And things don’t have to be right now. Everyone can eat.

Hardware specs surely turn heads. Leaked specs from Motorola’s site taught us that Droid will sport a high-res (854×480), 3.7-inch TFT capacitive touch display, the full QWERTY slide-out keyboard, an out-of-the-box support for voice commands, a 5-megapixel camera that records video and stabilizes images, 4x zoom, a dual LED flash, and auto focus.

According to Boy Genius Report, Droid’s metal enclosure hides a 550MHz Texas Instruments OMAP3430 processor, a separate PowerVR GPU, and 256MB of RAM – essentially the same CPU/GPU/RAM combo as in Apple’s iPhone 3GS or Palm’s Pre. Droid supports Verizon’s CDMA Rev A. network, in addition to WiFi

and GPS. It also packs in an impressive range of sensors – accelerometer, digital magnetometer, and proximity sensor.

There’s also a 3.5mm headset jack and a microUSB port. The hardware specs make Android 2.0 sing on this phone, although the product won’t leave similarly spec’ed phones in the dust. The author praised the physical keyboard (”better than the T-Mobile G1’s keyboard”), calling (”the Droid sounds great as a phone”), and Android 2.0 (out-of-the-box Exchange compatibility, a new browser, unified email inbox, voice commands, vice search, the improved Google Maps, better media support).

They even played with Droid’s charging dock/multimedia station, pictured here, that turns the phone into an alarm clock/weather display/music player by using a magnet to control and launch the corresponding application

And if you had any doubts about the Google-Verizon partnership promoting network openness, the publication claims that Verizon won’t put its branding on the phone or alter the user interface like it does on other smartphones. Finally, Google Voice on Droid and Verizon’s network works “flawlessly.” Boy Genius Report concluded that Droid’s technical advantages should worry the other guys, not Apple:

So will the Motorola Droid be successful? Absolutely, we think. It will eat in to BlackBerry sales, Windows Mobile sales, and positively murder any lingering Palm Pre sales. It’s that good.

Orange will begin selling the iPhone in the UK on November 10, one day after O2’s exclusive agreement with Apple expires. Despite hopes that the two carriers will engage in a price war during the run-up to Christmas, Orange will play the “added value” card.

As Geek reported last month, Orange UK and Vodafone UK have both announced plans to carry the iPhone 3G and 3GS in the UK. Unlike Vodafone who won’t be offering Apple’s handset before early 2010, Orange will begin selling the iPhone 3G and 3GS on November 10, suggested the Guardian. The carrier has not commented on Guardian’s report and has yet to officially announce the date. Vodafone will announces its half-year results on October 10. O2’s exclusive two-year agreement with Apple comes to an end a day earlier.

Orange UK promised to release price points, tariffs, terms of purchase, and availability dates in due course. The carrier boasted that already 200,000 would-be iPhone buyers have logged their interest in an online form. This past Wednesday, Orange announced up to 20Mbps download speeds available to customers in its home broadband network areas, which covers 65 percent of all UK homes. Carphone Warehouse, the UK’s leading independent mobile phone retailer, is expected to sell the iPhone on behalf of Orange as well, following a similar deal Carphone has had with O2.

Orange UK is owned by France Telecom SA which carries the iPhone in 28 countries. In a bid to secure a much needed bargaining chip in its business dealings with Apple, France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom plan to merge their respective T-Mobile UK and Orange UK units.

The join venture, rumored to be finalized in November, will have a combined 28.4 million subscribers and 37 percent stake of the UK mobile subscribers, based on both carriers’ official stats as of December 2008. The deal is pending approval from the UK’s competition authorities.

The UK is a prime example that the Californian firm pursues abandoning network exclusives in favor of multi-carrier deals. UK consumers who criticized O2’s network and services hope that multi-carrier deals mean more choices, a better service, and lower-priced tariffs. Despite the fact that O2 must fight Orange in the run-up to Christmas, I think that neither carrier will engage in a price war. In fact, it’s my opinion that both Orange and O2 might even form a duopoly regarding the iPhone, at least until Vodafone start selling the handset in early 2010.

Tom Alexander, Orange UK’s chief, told Guardian that the company will focus on adding value by bundling accessories and pre-loading apps on the device. T3 expects some “fruity tariffs” as a result of the Orange deal, while the Mobile Industry Review sees “a substantial amount of pent-up demand from an array normob segment” that has been “highly, highly frustrated by the exclusivity agreement.”
