During Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, HTC announced the Incredible S, the successor to the popular HTC Incredible smartphone that made its debut on Verizon Wireless in the United States.

The Incredible S sports a larger 4-inch WVGA Super LCD display. It’s also equipped with an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash that’s capable of recording HD video. The Incredible S is equipped with a 1.3MP forward-facing camera, too, for initiating face-to-face video chats.

HTC expects the Incredible S to be broadly available across Europe and Asia during the second quarter of this year. There’s no word where it will be offered in the U.S. but the handset does support the T-Mobile AWS spectrum.

During Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HTC announced a number of new smartphones. Among those is the HTC Desire S.

The HTC Desire S is the successor to the original HTC Desire and was sculpted out of a single block of aluminum. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s 1GHz 8255 Snapdragon processor and has a 3.7-inch display with a WVGA resolution.

HTC says the phone offers a front-facing camera for video chat and another 5MP camera for recording HD video. HTC says the Desire S is expected to be broadly available across Europe and Asia during the second quarter of this year.

HTC has finally let the wraps off of the famously chatted about “Facebook phone.” The newly announced HTC ChaCha isn’t exactly a Facebook-branded phone, but it does have a compelling one-touch button that will launch into Facebook’s HTC Sense-integrated services.

If there’s an opportunity to share a freshly snapped photo, for example, the Facebook button will glow. You’ll be able to tap the button to update your status, share a photo, share a website, or check-in to a location, among other options. If you tap the phone while listening to a song, for example, you can automatically share the song title with friends.

The ChaCha runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the device also sports a full QWERTY keyboard, a small 2.6-inch 480 x320 pixel resolution display, and a 5MP camera with auto-focus with LED flash. HTC also equipped the ChaCha with a forward-facing VGA camera for video chatting.

HTC expects the ChaCha to be available globally beginning in the second quarter of this year.

The HTC Salsa is an Android powered device that, at first glance, looks similar most of HTC’s other Android smartphones. However, it also has a small Facebook button on the bottom corner which allows users to automatically launch key functions of Facebook’s services, which are integrated into HTC’s Sense UI. HTC, during Mobile World Congress today, revealed a tiny new Android smartphone called the Wildfire S.

The Wildfire S is the successor to the original Wildfire, a similar version of which sold as the HTC Aria on AT&T in the United States. It offers a small 3.2-inch display with an HVGA resolution and is just 101.3mm (3.9in) long and 59.4mm (2.23in) wide.

The Wildfire S sports a 5MP camera with auto-focus, as well as an expandable microSD card slot for adding additional storage. It will launch in black, purple, and white.

HTC expects that the Wildfire S will be available in European and Asian markets during the second quarter of this year.

HTC has just announced one of its first Windows Phone 7 devices, the 7 Mozart. The Mozart is just one of five Windows Phone 7 powered smartphones that the company is announcing today.

The HTC 7 Mozart is powered by a 1GHz processor and has 8GB of internal storage. It also has 512MB of ROM and 512MB of RAM.

The 7 Mozart measures 119mm x 60.2mm x 11.9mm (4.7in x 2.37in x 0.47in) and weighs 130g (4.6oz).

The 7 Mozart is equipped with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display with an 800 x 480 pixel resolution. It supports 900MHz/2100MHz WCDMA/HSPA networks as well as quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi are also included.

The 7 Mozart has the highest megapixel-camera of the new phones announced. It offers an 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus and Xenon flash. The camera is also capable of recording 720p HD video.

At the 2011 CES event in Las Vegas, Verizon Wireless launched a flurry of new 4G LTE capable devices, including the HTC ThunderBolt that is pictured above. HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, took the stage to introduce the Android 2.2 powered phone, saying that he’s been using it for a while and that it is blazing fast.

In addition to 4G data support, the ThunderBolt also offers the Sense 2.0 user interface, Skype Mobile with Video, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. All of this is showcased on the handset’s 4.3-inch Super LCD touchscreen display, which offers WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) resolution.

Other features of note include a rear facing 8 megapixel camera with HD video recording capability as well as a 1.3 megapixel forward facing camera for video chatting, 8GB of internal storage backed up by a microSD memory card slot, and support for DLNA^(INFO) based media sharing. Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n support is included, and a 3.5mm headphone jack can be used when wireless Bluetooth A2DP stereo headphones are unavailable. The phone makes use of a 1400mAh battery, weighs 165g (5.8oz) and measures 122mm x 66mm x 13.2mm (4.8in x 2.6in x .52in) in size.

At this point we have no pricing information on Verizon’s new 4G LTE smartphones or data plans, but we were told that the HTC ThunderBolt will be available at some point during the first half of the year.

Today HTC and AT&T formally launched the new HTC Inspire 4G smartphone, which runs Google’s Android 2.2 smartphone operating system with the next generation of HTC’s Sense platform on AT&T’s 4G HSPA+ network.

Featuring a fast 1GHz processor that encourages both the Android 2.2 operating system and HTC’s own Sense user interface to run smoothly, the Inspire delivers premium services to its user. The new Sense platform, the first in the United States, offers cloud services so users can track or remotely wipe a lost phone and enhanced social networking.

A 4.3-inch super LCD screen is found atop the smartphone along with an 8MP rear facing camera with autofocus for video and photos. The device offers HD video recording as well as built-in Google mobile services, including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps. Other features include Adobe Flash Player support, 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, and AT&T Mobile Hotspot support.

The HTC Inspire is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of this year with AT&T.

AT&T announced it will launch the Qualcomm BREW MP powered Freestyle phone from HTC. The Freestyle sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display as well as HTC’s Sense user experience.

The Freestyle comes equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera and camcorder. Photos can be viewed on the handset’s 3.2-inch HVGA resolution screen, or shared amongst friends with a quick email or upload to your favorite social network. Additionally, you can easily browse the internet with the phone’s web browser to keep up with the latest weather updates or movie releases.

The device also offers Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and an FM radio. AT&T said that the Freestyle will be available next month, although pricing for the device has not yet been announced.

QWERTY keyboard

Today Sprint officially unveiled the HTC EVO Shift 4G, the carrier’s third 4G smartphone. The EVO Shift, which was prematurely leaked by Walmart, features a 3.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and, of course, support for Sprint’s WiMAX^(INFO) powered 4G network.

The EVO Shift offers a speedy Qualcomm MSM7630 processor that runs at 800MHz to ensure that features such as the phone’s web browser look good on the phone’s WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) touchscreen display. Sprint claims that the phone should be capable of 3 to 6Mbps download speeds, on average, when in 4G covered areas, and notes that its Mobile Hotspot service can be used to share a data connection with up to 8 Wi-Fi capable devices.

The HTC EVO Shift 4G includes an updated version of the HTC Sense user interface that includes the multi-service capable Friendfeed application, which shows a single view of multiple social networking services at one time, including Facebook and Twitter. Other features of note include visual voicemail support, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an FM radio receiver, and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi support.

The Shift weighs 167g (5.9oz) and measures 117mm x 58mm x 15mm (4.6in x 2.3in x .6in) in size. A built-in 1500mAh battery is claimed to provide up to 6 hours of talk time on the phone, and the Shift’s microSD memory card slot comes with a 2GB card pre-loaded and is capable of supporting cards as large as 32GB in size.

The HTC EVO Shift 4G will be available from Sprint for $149.99, with a two year contract, starting on January 9, 2011.
